Raphael Saadiq’s Retro-Influence!

I believe that Raphael Saadiq deserves a post! I mean look, who wouldn’t love a man that can rock a yellow suit :-). He is a rare artist that is outwardly influenced by the past.

Raphael is the forerunner in the realm of “old school” R&B being a part of contemporary music culture. Best known for being a member of the 90s R&B group Tony! Toni! Tone’!, Rapahel is also an amazing producer. He has produced music for artists like Joss Stone, John Legend, Mary J. Blige, and D’Angelo.

Raphael’s most recent album, The Way I see It, was one of the best! It featured artists like Stevie Wonder, Jay-Z, and Joss Stone and won three Grammy Award Nominations. Some of my favorite songs from the album are Oh Girl, Love That Girl, Never Give Up, and Sure Hope You Mean It.

Here is Raphael’s new video “Let’s Take a Walk.” I love that it was done in black and white! It has such a vintage feel.
