Playing With Fire
Don't deny yourself pleasure today because of what you don't yet know about the future. Play with fire.

A Moment for A Soulstress!

I am in the mood to pay homage to Betty Davis!

This Funk and Soul singer played with musical and artistic fire in the 1970s. Originally a model, Betty Davis felt compelled to venture into music after meeting Jimi Hendrix  and Sly Stone. After the break-up of her marriage to amazing trumpeter Miles Davis, she moved to London to record her music. Betty Davis recorded three albums, none of which had commercial success. In spite of this, she remained a popular figure in the Funk and Soul genre because of her sexual attitude and controversial behavior. Her shows were often boycotted by religious groups. She is sexy, womanist FIRE!

Check out more pics of this fiesty soulstress and listen to her song Anti-Love Song!

  1. What do you know about Betty Davis? You’re too young to know about her. I was writing about her more than 30 years ago. One of her biggest hits was the single “If I’m in Luck I Might Get Picked Up.”
