Playing With Fire
Don't deny yourself pleasure today because of what you don't yet know about the future. Play with fire.

Musical Political Activism via N*E*R*D

Hey Fire Fighters! I am sure many of you have seen N*E*R*D’s new video or may have heard the song “Help Me.” I wanted to probe your minds a little on what message the video is trying to give its viewers, and possibly our generation.

At first glance, I hypothesized that N*E*R*D put together this montage of both present and past political issues and turmoil in an effort to connect the past with the present. For me, this demonstrates that we have not come to far from a past filled with hatred, unnecessary violence, war, and misunderstanding. However, I do sense optimism and a glimmer of hope. The videographer infused pleasant images in the midst of hostile ones.

I can only hope that N*E*R*D made this video to use their popularity as a platform to re-address political issues we often forget. No a** shaking, drugs, and cars in the video, just thought-provoking footage and images.

Love this video!
